Dzorwulu Special School Project

In 2017 after our inaugural launch on April 15th in Accra, Ghana Alexis Miranda Foundation decided to set up an Autism Resource Center to maximize our impact. Thus after seeking permission from the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service we visited two primary locations as part of our research to determine which site would be more suitable to our needs in consideration of location, ease of accessibility, logistics, etc. After visiting the Dansoman unit school and the Dzorwulu Special School, it was determined that the latter would be more suited to our needs as it was in a central location, easily accessible and logistically sound. Upon this determination, we conducted a survey or condition assessment to gauge the extent of renovation work that would be needed to give the school a much-needed facelift. We believe that the setup of this resource center is going to be extremely beneficial to the Autism community in Ghana. Most especially to the families that cannot afford or access the private schools or therapy for their children.

After the capital intensive renovation of Dzorwulu Special School, we held an unveiling ceremony to outdoor the work Resource Center and the work that was done. (Pictures below)
