On Wednesday, Nov 14th 2018, the Alexis Miranda Foundation, as part of a team of experts and advocates on Autism had the opportunity to meet with legislators in Washington D.C to discuss a number of important things that we wanted to bring to the forefront of their attention during this Lame Duck session. The session began yesterday and as one can imagine it was a was a busy day, first day back in sessions after the mid-term elections. I used the opportunity to highlight the work we are doing here and in Ghana and how we are looking to expand our services and programs in the Merrimack Valley. We were part of a team selected to meet our legislators from Massachusetts; Senator Elizabeth Warren, Representative Seth Moulton, Representative Katherine Clark and Representative Joseph Patrick Kennedy III. It was nice to learn that Rep Kennedy had visited Ghana and was aware of the challenges there. We impressed upon our legislators to take a keen interest in the Autism Cares Act which is up for re-authorization.
